Picked up a copy of Dirk Wears White Socks by Adam and the Ants at the weekend, recently had the early singles out for a listen and i didn’t seem to have the LP so nice to pick up. I have always been into Mr Ant, ever since i heard Elastica banging on about the Peel sessions in my youth. (an Elastica single was my first ever musical purchase). On it is this really great track called Animals and Men. The Ants i guess more considered a Post Punk band, but they where there from the off but not really breaking through, i guess having art school sound didn't appeal to the punks. Actually while at art school Adam Ant was a found member of the Monochrome Set.
I came across a band called Animals and Men, via their 45 Terraplane fixation quite a while back, brilliant DIY female led UK group, named after the Ants track. Defo Ants vibe off them with the guitar sound, but with a Pere Ubu/Bo Diddley backing with a gloriously refrained vocal.
